Villa Tallbacken – a private retreat by one of Värmland’s lakes
Villa Tallbacken is designed in close dialogue with the lake and the surrounding landscape. The dark timber-clad volumes follow the sloping terrain, stepping gently down towards the water and blending naturally into the forested setting.
Large floor-to-ceiling glazing opens the house towards the lake and brings daylight deep into the interior, while angled timber screens provide privacy without blocking views. Terraces extend the living spaces outdoors, creating sheltered areas for both quiet moments and social gatherings.
Inside, a restrained palette of timber, stone and soft earth tones creates a calm and tactile atmosphere. A centrally placed fireplace connects the main living spaces and forms a natural gathering point.
Villa Tallbacken is shaped by its place – a home where architecture, light and landscape come together to create a quiet and enduring retreat by the water.
